I think it takes time to come to that cohesive offer and storyline which is the real essence of the brand we are trying to build, and there is too much of exterior know hows given on the how to but not enough questions are pitched to the person to actually think what their core offer is.
I agree. It doesn't help to define our niche and brand identity early on because we are putting ourselves in a box that we might not actually fit within. Since we don't understand what we actually like until we try it out.
But I think there is value in trying to understand who you want to write for and in the process actually looking for a person like this in real life so you know what they need. There's no point in just dreaming about the ideal reader, if they don't exist.
We need to make sure their needs are real, and the best way to do this is to test. By publishing for 'ideal reader' who is somewhere close to there, and adjusting with feedback.

yes that's right, it's this testing which will finally bring us closer to what the core story of our brand is.
